A little about me…

Hi, my name is Chris.  Thank you for visiting this website! I hope you have a chance to look through some of our projects and get a sense of our design style and projects we get to build.

As a licensed Landscape Architect with over 10 years of combined professional, field and educational experience, I am very excited for the opportunity to design and create unique gardens here in my hometown of Delray Beach/Boca Raton and the tri-county area.

After beginning my career installing and maintaining landscapes as a laborer and crew leader here in South Florida, I decided to return to school to focus on design, receiving a Master’s in Landscape Architecture with honors from Florida International University. As a student, I was extremely active in the community and received several awards, including two design awards from the Florida Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (FLASLA), as well as becoming a National University Olmsted Scholar. Next, I was privileged enough to spend several years honing my craft at the prestigious Miami-based firm of Raymond Jungles Inc., where our projects ranged from high-end residential to large scale developments in both the private and public realm. There, I learned and developed a very strong sense of design, practice and a focus on client relationships.

Projects I assisted with included: the Faena District in Miami Beach, Bal Harbour Shoppes, Lincoln Road renovations and numerous private residences from the Florida Keys to Hobe Sound.

At the end of 2016, after returning from a 15-month one-in-a-lifetime world tour exploring the gardens, architecture and cultures of South America, Europe and Asia, I began as a professor teaching a landscape Master’s Studio at Florida International University. At the same time, Chris Cabezas Landscape Architecture, Inc was launched and we immediately began designing and building projects.

With a passion for tropical plants and native ecosystems, and a love of innovation design and craftmenship, I am excited to continue to create unique gardens and spaces using nature’s toolkit of plants and stone, water and soil, shade and light. If you can imagine it, together we can create it.

I look forward to the opportunity to work together on your next landscape project!

-Chris

Great design is at the heart of all of our work and it begins the old fashioned way, with paper and pen. While we draft our plans using CAD, the initial ideas are sketched out by hand.

As a landscape architect, it is so important to know what it takes to get projects built, from the first sketch to the final stone laid. That’s why I often get my hands dirty and work with crews to make sure the job is done right.

My time as an adjunct professor at FIU was so rewarding and fun. Working with the talented students and collaborating with the professors at such a high level challenged me daily. I hope to return to teaching sometime in the future.
